China's Huawei and Cambodia's National Institute of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Communication Technology (NIPTICT) jointly launched a Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA) in Phnom Penh on Tuesday.
"The opening of the HAINA is a new achievement for NIPTICT," Cambodian Post and Telecommunication Minister Prak Sokhonn said, adding "It will facilitate students in the study, research, and development of telecom and ICT (Information Communication Technology) in Cambodia."
According to a press release at the launching ceremony, the two partners will promote telecommunications and ICT training in Cambodia and support the city's development as a hub for ICT in the kingdom.
Equipped with the latest hardware and software, HAINA, located in the NIPTICT campus, will offer training on cloud computing, networking and telecommunications to Cambodian students, the press release said.
Furthermore, HAINA programs will help ICT university students to fill the gap between theory and practice and master required skills.
Under the partnership, Huawei also set up an ICT laboratory to provide students with opportunities for hands-on exploration of the latest cloud computing and networking technologies.
"NIPTICT is pleased to partner with Huawei, an international ICT leader, to help our students gain competitive skills that they can use to benefit society and the world," Seng Sopheap, president of NIPTICT, said.
"This partnership serves as a testimony to NIPTICT's strength in ICT teaching and research as well," he added.
Wang Xiaofeng, president of Learning Service Department Huawei Globle, said Huawei is honoured to collaborate with NIPTICT to equip students with up-to-date ICT knowledge and skills that will nurture the next generation of ICT leaders in Cambodia.
"As an international ICT innovator, we are committed to sharing knowledge with our academic partners and creating opportunities for individuals, businesses and economies worldwide," he said.
With an aim to support local ICT education around the world, Huawei has now extended its HAINA program to more than 130 leading universities worldwide.
Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. The firm's products and solutions are available in more than 170 countries and regions, serving over one-thirds of the world's population.
