An explosion in a chemistry lab in a Beijing university killed a postdoctoral researcher on Friday morning.
The blast occurred at around 10:10 a.m. on the second floor of the chemistry building of Tsinghua University, the university said in its official microblog.
Teachers and students in and near the building were evacuated, it said.
The fire has been put out and an investigation is under way.
