China on Tuesday called for more international cooperation in fighting terrorism to avoid unfortunate incidents like the downing of a Russian plane last month.
A Russian Su-24 bomber jet was downed by Turkey along the Syrian border on Nov. 24 over alleged violations of Turkish airspace, which Russia denied.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei confirmed that Chinese specialists, along with other foreign experts, had recently participated in the opening of the black box for analysis at Russia's invitation.
China has noted the jet was downed during operations to fight terrorist targets in Syria at the invitation of the Syrian government, Hong said.
"The downing of the jet is a loss to the international effort to fight terrorism," Hong said at a regular news briefing.
The UN Security Council adopted a resolution after the incident, calling on member states to "take all necessary measures" to prevent and suppress terrorist acts committed by IS and other terrorist groups.
"China again calls on all parties to intensify coordination and cooperation in anti-terrorism and take effective measures to avoid similar unfortunate incidents," Hong added.
