Chairman of Vietnam's National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Sinh Hung left capital Hanoi on Wednesday for a five-day visit to China.
The visit, made at the invitation of Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee, is of great significance which contributes to promoting the implementation of consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, said Vietnam's official daily Nhan Dan (the People) newspaper on Wednesday.
This has been the first trip to China by a Vietnamese top legislator since 2007, and also the first made by Nguyen Sinh Hung as chairman of the 13th National Assembly of Vietnam.
The visit provides an opportunity for the two countries to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two legislative bodies, as well as exchange major issues in bilateral ties, said the daily.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
