Motions and proposals raised by deputies of the National People's Congress (NPC) at the annual parliamentary session in March have been well handled, said the NPC Standing Committee here Thursday.

Five special committees reported how they addressed the motions on Thursday at the ongoing bi-monthly session of the NPC Standing Committee, following the other three special committees that had reported at the previous session in October.

The 521 motions put forward by NPC deputies at the March session have been reviewed by the NPC special committees, according to the reports from these special committees.

Among the motions, 510 were related to legislation, the reports said.

A separate report delivered on Thursday's meeting said NPC deputies also raised 8,239 proposals at the March session.

Of the proposals, 134 were raised by 22 delegations as a collective effort, an increase of 27.6 percent from the year before, according to the report.

In addition, the solution to 61.4 percent of the proposals needed collaboration among multiple authorities and they cooperated well, the report said.

In content, the proposals raised by the deputies were focused on issues including rule of law, food safety and air pollution.

The proposals have been handed over to 186 organs and about 80.1 percent of the problems pointed out by the deputies in their proposals had been addressed or are being addressed, according to the report.

A total of 154 NPC Standing Committee members including top legislator Zhang Dejiang attended Thursday's meeting and heard the reports.
