Air China opened a route connecting with Beijing to Havana via Montreal on Sunday, the first route for Chinese carriers between China and Cuba.
The route has three flights per week using Boeing 747-8 or Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, the carrier said.
The trade volume between China and Cuba increased by 57 percent to $1.60 billion in the past nine months of this year, and the cargo freight is also increasing, the company said.
Air China has opened 29 international routes this year, the most flights opened for the airline in recent years. In September, the carrier opened a route from Beijing to Montreal.
