China has experienced less serious desertification over the past decade, as data revealed desertified areas have been shrinking, China's forestry authority said on Tuesday.
By the end of 2014, desertified areas in China totaled 2.61 million square kilometers, about 27.2 percent of the country's territory, down 12,120 square kilometers from the previous survey in 2009, according to research by the State Forestry Administration.
