Chinese mainland authorities are considering allowing its residents to transfer through a Taiwan airport, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office announced Tuesday.
The flight transfer, through Taiwan's Taoyuan International Airport, will first be limited to flights to or from the cities of Nanchang, Kunming and Chongqing, the authority said in a statement.
No additional documents will be needed for mainland residents, except the usual passports, boarding passes and air tickets, it added.
The mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) will contact Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), and the transfer business will be put into operation after certain preparatory work, it said.
