Tech luminaries Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos have invested around 100 million U.S. dollars into a new cancer test, according to media reports Tuesday.
The blood test, which can detect many kinds of cancer much earlier than doctors are currently able to, is developed by a new company named Grail.
The technique used by Grail called a "liquid biopsy." It scans patients' blood streams for signs of cancer DNA, which can indicate that a tumor is forming -- even if a doctor can't see it on a scan and the patient hasn't experienced any symptoms.
Grail hopes that earlier diagnoses will help doctors remove tumors before they spread.
