Hosts Qatar went off to a good start for the AFC U23 Championship by beating China 3-1 at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium on Tuesday.
Qatar Captain Abdelkarim Hassan scored twice in the second half to award the team the comeback win.
Guangzhou Evergrande's Liao Lisheng opened the scoring for China with a free-kick before the half-time mark.
The 22-year-old Hassan, who played for Al Sadd, headed home to level the score in the 65th minute. The Qatari left-back netted his second goal of the match seven minutes later before substitute Ahmed Alaa added a third with about 10 minutes to go as Felix Sanchez's side secured all three points.
In an earlier match, Amir Motahhari scored one and set up the other as Iran wrapped up a 2-0 win over Syria.
