Fire engulfed a homeless shelter in south China's Shenzhen on Monday night, leaving three people dead and one injured, local authorities said on Tuesday.
The fire, which grew to 30 square meters, occurred at 10:45 p.m. Surveillance camera footage suggests the fire was started by a 31-year-old man who was admitted to the shelter on Sunday and suspected of having a mental disorder.
The fire was put out about 15 minutes later. One person is being treated for minor burns at the hospital.
Police have opened an investigation into the case.
