A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit waters close to northeast coast of Taiwan at a depth of 200 kilometers at 10:19 p.m. Beijing Time on Tuesday, according to China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 25.41 degrees north latitude and 123.45 degrees east longitude.
The island's weather and earthquake monitoring agency said the earthquake was monitored at 6.8 magnitude.
The earthquake was centered about 185 km east of Keelung city in northeast Taiwan, the agency said.
