China welcomed Malaysia's new visa policy towards Chinese tourists on Tuesday.

State Councilor Guo Shengkun told Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that China is ready to work with Malaysia to implement the new visa policy.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Jan.28 that the country will grant visa exemptions for Chinese tourists as a measure to boost tourism.

Visas will not be required for Chinese tourists to Malaysia for a period of no more than 15 days beginning from March 1 to Dec. 31, 2016.

Guo, also Minister of Public Security, called on the two sides to enhance cooperation in protecting the safety and legitimate rights of citizens, institutions and businesses of both countries.

The two countries should make joint efforts in fighting transnational crime and terrorism in order to maintain national security as well as create good conditions for economic development, he added.

Zahid said Malaysia would like to strengthen cooperation with China in law enforcement, security and other fields so as to make greater contribution to bilateral cooperation in various areas.
