Airports around China are seeing record numbers of passengers, as the Spring Festival draws closer.
Civil aviation departments forecast more than 54 million people will travel by air during the Spring Festival travel rush, 11 percent more than last year. And more than 520,000 flights will take off during the festival, a 7 percent rise compared with the same period in 2015.
Tourism is helping fuel the air travel boom. Popular destinations for tourists include coastal cities like Sanya and Xiamen. More people are going abroad this year to spend the holiday, with Japan, South Korea, the U.S. and Australia the hottest destinations.
