A traffic accident occurred Friday in northern Lao Luang Namtha province, injuring 13 people including one Chinese, the Chinese consulate-general in Luang Phrabang confirmed on Saturday.
The injured Chinese, who is from Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, was on self driving travel with his four family members during the China's Spring Festival.
The accident happened at around 11 a.m. local time when the jeep the Chinese man was driving collided head on with a small passenger bus carrying 12 people, including 11 foreign tourists.
All the people in the bus were injured, with the Lao driver and three foreigners in serious conditions. The jeep driver also sustained slight injury.
The two vehicles were seriously damaged.
The Chinese consulate-general in Luang Phrabang has offered necessary assistance to the Chinese family. Local police has launched an investigation into the accident.
