Chinese teenager Zang Yize came out a surprising winner of women's 500m short track speed skating at the second Winter Youth Olympic Games here on Tuesday, after two South Korean finalists were penalized.
Zang clocked 46.648 seconds to be the third finisher in Final A, but was moved up to the top podium after Kim Jiyoo and Lee Suyoun finished 1-2 but were later penalized.
The only other competitor in Final A, Petra Jaszapati of Hungary, who was tackled by one of the Koreans, came out the silver medalist with a final result of no time.
Bulgaria's Kaatrin Manoilova took the bronze after finishing on top in Final B on 46.337 seconds.
Later on Tuesday, the only male short track skater of China Ma Wei, who's the men's 1,000m silver medalist two days ago, added a bronze to his medal collection after finishing fourth in men's 500m Final A with the 1,000m champion Hwang Daeheon of South Korea was given a penalty.
