Peking University launched 32 open online courses over the lunar new year holiday, the university announced Wednesday.
They will be offered through the Chinese MOOCs website.
The open online courses include "Western music in the 20th century," "ancient Chinese history," "international criminal law" and "biological evolution," among others.
In addition to pre-recorded courses, learners can take quizzes that are automatically graded and experience interactive teaching and learning with 12 instructors from Peking University starting March 1, according to the news center of Peking University.
The official website aims to attract a global Chinese-speaking audience. It currently features 37 courses from Peking University and National Taiwan University.
Like Coursera, the world's largest provider of MOOCs, courses on Chinese MOOCs can be accessed for free, with some offering certifications upon completion.
The Chinese MOOCs site was jointly launched by China's prestigious Peking University and Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba in 2015.
