In response to queries about the latest resolution of the United Nations Security Council on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Fu Ying, spokesperson for the annual session of the National People's Congress, said the resolution called for early resumption of the Six-Party Talks and a solution through diplomatic negotiations in a peaceful way, on which China always insists.
The UN Security Council on Wednesday unanimously adopted the resolution to impose new and tougher sanctions against the DPRK to curb its nuclear and missile programs.
"China resolutely opposes nuclear armament of the DPRK, as it threatens regional peace and stability, as well as affects security interests of China and other neighboring countries," Fu said.
The spokesperson said security concerns of the DPRK should also be addressed.
