Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shanghai SIPG denied the transfer rumors of the Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney on Wednesday, saying "all the reports and rumors connecting Shanghai SIPG and Wayne Rooney are all false news."

English TV personality Piers Morgan said in his column of the UK-based Daily Mail Online that the 30-year-old England international was offered a gigantic three-year deal worth nine figures after tax from Shanghai SIPG.

"It's long time away for the summer transfer window to open, so which position need foreign enforcement is not quite clear yet, thus it's impossible for us to make any contact now," announced Shanghai SIPG, the CSL runner-up of last season, on its official website.

"Besides, we wish to fight for good results with a stable line-up in AFC Champions League and Chinese Super League and we will try to develop our own young players."

Despite denying Rooney's transfer, Shanghai SIPG, under the coach of Sweden's Sven-Goran Eriksson, did not close the door on possible import this summer.

"We will decide that later in line with our squad's actual need and we will stick to a low-key, rational importing principle instead of splashing out gigantic numbers for eye-catching big names."

Shanghai SIPG, which lost their CSL season opener to Henan Jianye 1-0, will host a derby match against Shanghai Greenland Friday.
