Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will attend the first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) leaders' meeting, to be held on March 23 in Sanya city of southern China's Hainan province, according to a Foreign Ministry statement on Thursday.

"During the first LMC leaders' meeting, the prime minister will deliver his remarks under the theme "Shared River, Shared Future" and join other heads of state and government of Mekong countries and China in adopting three documents," the statement said.

The documents include Sanya Declaration of the first LMC leaders' meeting, Joint Statement on Production Capacity Cooperation among Lancang-Mekong countries, and Early Harvest Projects for LMC, it said.

Mekong River originates in China and runs through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is known as Lancang in the Chinese stretch.

According to the statement, Hun Sen will also attend the 2016 Boao Forum for Asia, which will be held back-to-back with the LMC leaders' meeting on March 24 in Boao city of Hainan.

"The Boao Forum for Asia is the most important forum for Asia continent because since its establishment in 2001, this forum has played an active role in arranging dialogue platforms for public, private and academic sectors to discuss and exchange views on addressing economic, social, environment and other most pressing issues," it said.
