Chinese film company Huayi Brothers will continue to collaborate with overseas studios, including South Korea's Showbox and the American STX Entertainment, the studio announced in Beijing on Sunday as part of its annual film release conference.
Titled "The H Project" by the studio, will include works by renowned Chinese directors such as Feng Xiaogang and Guan Hu, as well as international directors such as Willam Brent Bell (The Devil Inside, Stay Alive) and Shane Black (Iron Man 3).
According to Huayi Brothers CEO Wang Zhongjun, the project will release a total of 11 films this year, to include three international works - The Boy, The Nice Guys and animated film Rock Dog.
The company will also set up a new independent animation studio led by Joe Aguilar, a former producer at DreamWorks, and Marus Mannnien, who worked on the Kung Fu Panda films and The Croods.
