Nineteen miners died and 110 others escaped alive after a coal mine cave-in in north China's Shanxi Province Wednesday night, the mine's owner said on Thursday.
The underground accident occurred at around 10:10 p.m. in a colliery of the Anping Coal Mine Co. in Shanyin County, said a statement by Shanxi Datong Coal Mine Group, the mine's owner.
A total of 129 miners were working underground when the accident took place, according to the statement.
Rescue work is underway.
