Seven million people in Beijing, or about a third of the population, rented their accommodations last year, a recent report said.
Those with a Beijing hukou, a government household registration record, account for 18 percent of renters, and 46 percent of those with a Beijing hukou are under age of 36, said the report released on Tuesday by Dingding Rent, an online renting service.
Sixty percent of the renters are men, while women account for 60 percent of landlords, Dingding said. It said 40 percent of rented apartments had one bedroom and 47 percent had two.
