Local favorite Ding Junhui lost 1-5 to Lee Walker of Wales in the qualifying round to wave good-bye to the 2016 World Snooker China Open in Beijing on Monday.
Troubled by the jet lag after the trips between Chinese Billiard World Championship in China, PTC Finals in UK and China Open again in China, Ding didn't show up at the press conference yesterday. But it seemed he was still lost in Monday's qualifier by losing three straight frames to Lee Walker.
He woke up later with a 136-point break in the fourth one but again lost the fifth 23-89. Both sides wasted chances in the sixth frame but Ding left the pink to Walker when he was 52-55 down. The latter scored the golden six points to beat Ding 5-1.
"I don't konw when is the daytime and when is night, I just get up on time, go to sleep on time and play the match on time," said Ding, who seemed still sleepy in the press conference after the match.
"I know if I let him start well I may have no chance at all so I am glad that I had a good start," said Walker, "If I play well I can beat anyone, I am pretty sure of that."
Another home player, Liang Wenbo also lost 2-5 to Englishman Peter Lines in the qualifier this afternoon.
