The public security bureau in Dazhou, Southwest China's Sichuan Province announced Wednesday that they have arrested one of two suspects who on Tuesday violently resisted arrest and stole a police officer's gun.
"Police have arrested a suspect surnamed Chu … and are tracking down another suspect, Feng Huashuai. The police urge Feng to turn himself to the police" read the announcement that the Dazhou security bureau posted on its official Sina Weibo account.
Feng and Chu injured two police officers who were ordered to arrest them on suspicion of affray and grabbed a pistol from one officer before fleeing the scene, according to the announcement.
Police later found the gun in a trash can near a Dazhou hotel on Wednesday, according to news portal, chinanews.com.
The Sichuan-based West China Metropolis Daily released Feng's picture and personal information on its official Sina Weibo account on Wednesday.
"The police are doing their best to investigate the case and trace Feng … and call for people who know more information to offer clues to the authorities," read the public security bureau' announcement.
Feng is still at large as of press time.
According to China's Criminal Law, those who use violence or threats to obstruct a State employee from carrying out their duty can face up to three years behind bars.
Attacking police officers can lead to deadly consequences in China.
