China recorded 330 environmental emergencies in 2015, 141 less than in 2014, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) said Wednesday.
The MEP disclosed the three most severe incidents on its website, including the pollution of drinking water in the Xinhe county, Xingtai city in Hebei Province in March 2015, dumping of hazardous waste that caused fatalities in Puji township, Zhangqiu city in Shandong Province last October, and leak of mill tailings in the city of Longnan in Gansu Province last November.
The biochemical company implicated in the Xingtai incident has been shut down and people responsible penalized, while investigations into the other two are underway, according to the MEP.
