U.S. superhero film "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" has raked in over 800 million U.S. dollars in global box office receipts, Warner Bros. Pictures announced Thursday.
The film has pocketed 301.2 million U.S. dollars in North America and 500.5 million in other nations since its March 25 release, totalling 801.7 million dollars globally, according to Warner Bros..
"We want to thank fans around the world for sharing their passion for these characters and this story by heading to the theaters ... and we congratulate the cast and filmmakers on the film's ongoing success," said Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of worldwide distribution department of Warner Bros..
Zack Snyder directed the action-adventure picture starring Oscar winner Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman; it's the characters' first big-screen pairing.
Debuting on March 25 in United States and Canada, "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" sat atop the weekend box office for the first two weeks before slipping to the second spot.
