Tang Aijun, former mayor of Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has been prosecuted for allegedly accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Tuesday.
Tang was indicted by Erdos Municipal People's Procuratorate in Inner Mongolia at Erdos Intermediate People's Court.
Prosecutors informed Tang of his litigation rights during the review and prosecution stage and questioned the defendant in addition to listening to his lawyer's opinions, said a statement from the SPP.
According to the indictment, Tang took advantage of his posts to illegally accept a large amount of property and seek benefits for others.
Tang was placed under investigation by the region's Communist Party of China (CPC) discipline inspection commission in August 2014.
