The IMG Worlds of Adventure, the world's biggest indoor entertainment park, will open in Dubai on Aug. 15 with 30,000 visitors are expected per day, its chief executive officer said on Sunday.
"The world's largest indoor fun park is now 96 percent completed and stretches across 1.5 million square feet, which equals around 28 football fields," CEO Lennard F. Otto said in a media briefing.
The one-billion dollar park will kick off a global marketing campaign and ticket sales on Monday, Otto added.
It was originally scheduled to greet tourists at the end of 2014.
Asked about the delay, Otto said the project was "huge" and as the biggest indoor entertainment park unique in the world, therefore, the construction took longer than originally scheduled."
Dubai welcomed in 2015 over 14.2 million visitors, up 7.5 percent year on year. In 2020, when Dubai will host the six-month World Expo as the first city in the region, the emirate aims to lure 25 million tourists.
Earlier last week, Dubai's neighbor emirate Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, announced the construction of one billion dollar Warner Bros, a themed fun and adventures park which is set to open by 2018 on Yas Island near the capital.
