On May 15, a small group of men and women painted themselves blue and gathered early in the morning at the legendary Broken Bridge on West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
This very blue flash mob quickly attracted a crowd of onlookers and the performers enjoyed the outing, posing with locals for photographs, and performing with a piece of discarded pipe. The blue men even declared war on some of the locals who were square dancing and engaged them in a dance battle.
The performers are from the Blue Man Group which was originally formed in the U.S. in 1991 and has been acclaimed internationally for its innovative music and dance performances. They often promote environmental themes and new instruments, often created from recycled materials.
Currently on a world tour (with shows throughout the U.S. as well as Germany) the group discovered that the G20 Summit will take place in Hangzhou in September and detoured there to delight locals and tourists and see West Lake for themselves, according to china.com.
