Three people have been detained after they were implicated in a fatal fire on Saturday in Dalian in northeast China's Liaoning Province, local authorities said Monday.
The fire department despatched a team to the scene of a fire at a stationary store at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on Changxing Island, an economic and technological development zone in Dalian. The fire was put out at 10:55 a.m.
When the fire broke out 24 sixth grade students were attending a class at a training agency on the second floor. The teacher and 21 students managed to escape, but three children were later found dead in the bathroom.
An initial investigation indicates that the fire was caused by someone cooking on the first floor. It was also found that the training agency was licensed, but its approved classroom was somewhere else.
Three suspects, from the stationary store and the training agency, were taken in to police custody. The investigation continues.
