A senior Chinese official said Monday that China considers Oman a key partner in materializing the belt and road initiative.

Wang Yong, the Chinese State Councilor, made the remarks during his recent two-day visit to Gulf Arab country that ended on Monday.

During his meeting with Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, and other senior Omani officials, Wang said China would like to use its fine production capacity and advanced industrial technologies to help Oman in building up its infrastructures like high-speed railways, highways, airports and seaports.

China is also ready to encourage its companies to play an active part in the Chinese industrial park project inside Oman's Special Economic Zone of Duqm, he said, adding that Beijing would like to join Oman in expanding their cooperation in telecommunications, finance, investment, aerospace, petrochemical industries and renewable energies.

During the talks, Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said as well as other officials said that his country is confident that China is still a leading force to promote global economic growth, while the belt and road initiative is a major opportunity for Oman.

The Omani side added that Muscat is willing to work with Beijing in pushing forward bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, production capacity, aerospace, and telecommunications so as to promote common development.

Following his visit to Oman, Wang is also going to visit Jordan and Algeria.
