China's new ambassador to the Bahamas Huang Qinguo has presented his credential letters to Marguerite Pindling, governor-general of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
In presenting the credential letters on Wednesday, Huang called the Bahamas an important country in the Caribbean region, and said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to relations with the country.
China and the Bahamas have witnessed uninterrupted exchanges at all levels, and ever-deepening political mutual trust and communication and cooperation in various fields over the past 19 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations, Huang said.
Speaking on the same occasion, Pindling said that the Bahamas is looking forward to holding a series of celebrative activities both in its capital Nassau and Beijing in 2017, which marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Huang arrived in Nassau on May 20.
