The death toll from the collapse of a water tower at a school in central China's Hunan Province has risen to two, after an injured student died in the early hours of Wednesday.
The seriously injured student died in hospital after treatment failed, according to a statement from the publicity office of Xinning County, where the incident occurred.
The tower, an elevated tank storing water, collapsed at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday on the campus of Anshan Middle School in Xinning, killing one student on the spot.
Another four injured students are in a stable condition in hospital.
The principal and a deputy principal of the school have been suspended from their posts pending an investigation.
