China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Thursday instructed procuratorates at all levels to take a zero-tolerance stance on crimes against minors.

Addressing a seminar on procuratorate work for minors, Cao Jianming, Procurator-General of the SPP, said arrest warrants and indictments should be issued as quickly as possible in cases involving minors.

Commutation and parole of convicts should be carefully monitored, he added.

Procuratorates should work more closely with the police, courts and judicial administrative authorities, focusing on protecting children left behind by parents who leave their hometowns to earn a living, and those who stay with their parents in unfamiliar cities.P Support mechanisms for minors should be improved as well, he said.
