Two human H7N9 cases have been confirmed in north China's Tianjin Municipality, local health authorities said Tuesday night.
The two patients are a native of Langfang City in north China's Hebei Province and a local resident from Tianjin's Binhai New Area, said the Tianjin Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission.
They were hospitalized in Tianjin after developing serious pneumonia. Both of them had contact with diseased poultry. The two cases were isolated, according to the commission.
H7N9 is a bird flu strain first reported to have infected humans in March 2013 in China. It is most likely to strike in winter and spring.
