A total of 230 senior Chinese officials have been deployed to new positions in the first half of this year, including former education minister Yuan Guiren and former cyberspace affairs chief Lu Wei.
Among the relocated personnel were 198 deputy provincial-level officials and 32 provincial-level officials, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
The changes affected many notable senior officials in the Chinese government, including former head of the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs Lu Wei, who was replaced by Xu Lin, a deputy head of the office since June 2015.
Meanwhile, Chen Baosheng, formerly the Party chief of the Chinese Academy of Governance, took over as education minister from Yuan Guiren.
A total of 171 officials, around three-fourths of the 230 who were moved to new positions, had been working in local governments. Some of them had played chief roles in their provinces and cities.
According to Xinhua's report, it is rare to see four provincial Party chiefs moved to new positions at the end of June.
These include Luo Zhijun's replacement by Li Qiang as Party chief of Jiangsu Province, Wang Rulin's replacement by Luo Huining as Party chief of Shanxi Province and Wu Xinxiong's replacement by Lu Xinshe as Party chief of Jiangxi Province. On Thursday, Wang Guosheng replaced Luo Huining as secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China.
