China on Sunday condemned a suicide bomber attack on a peaceful demonstration in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan that killed at least 80 people, injuring 230.
"China strongly condemns the attack in Kabul," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said in a press release.
China expressed condolences for the victims, their families and the injured, according to Lu.
China will continue to firmly support efforts by both the Afghanistan government and people to fight terrorism, safeguard national stability and security of the people, he added.
The incident took place on Saturday at around mid-day when thousands of people were holding a demonstration to protest over a change in route of a major electricity line.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
