Defending champion Xu Lijia was not affected by the disqualification of race two as she bounced back to top the overall ranking again in the women's laser radial of sailing competition in the 2016 Olympic Games on Tuesday.
On Monday, Xu ranked third and fourth in the first races respectively but later in the evening she was handed a penalty of disqualification in race two by sailing jury as she was protested by the USA team.
Xu finished Tuesday's two races in third and first place. Under the scoring system each sailor's worst score is discarded from their final series results. Then Xu went back to top the overall ranking with seven net points.
"I just feel a bit pity about yesterday's disqualification after the protest hearing, but I had to let it go and carry on with the rest of the racing because that's something I have control over," Xu said after Tuesday's races.
"I just sailed normally and pushed myself and give everything I have, not to leave anything onshore," Xu said of her back to top.
In the men's laser, Argentina's Julio Alsogaray led the standings, edging Tonci Stipanovic from Croatia into second place.
While in the men's and women's RS:X, Nick Dempsey from Britain and Flavia Tartaglini from Italy took the lead respectively after six rounds.
Tuesday's action also featured the opening two races of men's finn. Slovenia's Vasilij Zbogar, who was sixth placed in the London Games, led the overall ranking.
Gold medal favorite Giles Scott from Britain was in 10th place overall after being placed 17th and third in race one and two.
"The wind was coming straight over Sugarloaf mountain which makes it a bit of a nightmare for consistent and predictable winds. Super tricky racing today and unfortunately for me that showed in the first race," said Scott. "My game plan for both races was very similar, in the first one it was the execution (that went wrong)."
