An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 struck Japan's Fukushima prefecture on Monday, Japan's weather agency said.
The quake, registering 4 on the Japanese seismic scale which peaks at 7, occurred at 4:04 p.m. local time, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The epicenter of the quake was at a latitude of 37.4 degrees north and a longitude of 141.7 degrees east and occurred at depth of 40 km,according to the agency.
No major damage or injuries have been so far reported and no tsunami warning was issued.
