Ice Age: Collision Course, the fifth film in the well-known animated franchise, has been scheduled to hit theaters across the Chinese mainland on August 23, according to a press release sent to the Global Times by the movie's producer 20th Century Fox Film.
Since the first film of the series in 2002, Ice Age has gained a large following of fans around the world, including China, and a total box office of $3 billion.
The Chinese language version of the latest film features a cast of comedians including Shen Teng, Ma Li and Chang Yuan.
According to the press release, Shen will play the role of Buck the weasel, who takes the lead in trying to save the Earth from a crisis set in motion by Scrat the saber-toothed squirrel's epic pursuit of his elusive acorn.
At a promotional event for the film on Saturday in Beijing, Shen said that "it was a little challenging to dub Buck, who is full of wisdom and humor, but I managed to make him interesting."
British diva Jessie J, who voiced Brooke the sloth in the English version, performs the ending song "My Superstar" in the film.
