Now any visitors to Rio will have had plenty of warnings about safety, ranging from potential muggings to covering up against possible Zika carrying mosquitoes.
But few would have thought to watch out for falling cameras, and for a few visitors to the Olympic Park, that's exactly the warning they needed when as many as seven people were injured.
The incident is caught by another hanging camera as you can see this large suspended device breaking loose and tumbling down to the pedestrian ramp below.
It strikes two women who sustain visible injuries, both of whom are cut due to the impact and perhaps lucky not to be more seriously hurt. Four people in total were taken to hospital, including two children.
The camera apparently belongs to the Olympic Broadcasting Services. Firefighters would arrive to take the two women for medical attention, but there has been no update on their condition.
