British comedy Absolutely Anything has received a release date of September 9 for the Chinese mainland, according to a press release sent to the Global Times by the film's Chinese distributor iQiyi Pictures on Tuesday.
Directed by Terry Jones, the film stars Simon Pegg and Kate Beckinsale, and features the late Robin Williams' voicing a talking dog in his last performance.
The film, which was released in the UK in August 2015, focuses on middle school teacher Neil Clarke, who is granted the power to do anything he wants by aliens as part of an experiment to see if humanity is worthy of joining a galactic council.
However, learning how to use his newfound ability takes some time as amusing mistakes are made with each wish.
However, each time he uses the super power, many troubles and disasters happen to him. He eventually gives his dog Dennis the power to talk in order to help him out.
This is not the only movie featuring Pegg that will hit mainland theaters in September. Star Trek Beyond, the latest film in the long-running Star Trek franchise, will hit cinemas in China on September 2.
In the film, which Pegg also co-wrote, the actor plays ship engineer Montgomery Scott.
That same day also sees the mainland premiere of Japanese horror movie Parasyte: Part 1, which focuses on a young boy whose right arm is taken over by a shape-shifting parasite.
In a triple play for September 2, Jake Gyllenhaal's 2015 boxing movie South Paw also debuts that day.
