A fire at a residential building in Nanchang, capital of eastern China's Jiangxi Province, has been put out, with no casualties, a local firefighting squad said Saturday.
The flames were reported at 11:28 a.m., on the roof a 14-story building in a densely populated area on Zigu road, Dongyu district, firefighters said.
Smoke billowing from the fire could been seen across large parts of the city.
Fifteen fire engines arrived at the scene, where a 300 square meter area was burnt. The fire panicked residents in the building as many heard an explosion.
Firefighters said the blaze broke out from illegally-constructed structures on the rooftop.
