A total of 56 art institutions, mostly consisting of local galleries, will attend this year's Art Shenzhen, which is scheduled to run from September 16-19 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, organizers said in a statement released Saturday.
Since the first event in 2013, Art Shenzhen has worked to serve local art organizations and galleries, which has earned it a positive response among local art circles.
This year's Art Shenzhen will exhibit more works by local artists than ever to include paintings, sculptures, installation works and films. New faces like the ShanghArt Gallery, Boers-Li Gallery, White Space Beijing and the Hive Center for Contemporary Art will attend the event for the very first time.
Although younger than many art fairs in Beijing and Shanghai, Art Shenzhen has become a major platform for domestic art organizations and young art talents.
The art fair will once again hold its annual young artist exhibition, which offers young artists-to-be an opportunity to showcase their works free of charge and provides them a platform so they may connect with curators and art critics.
