China will continue to work with New Zealand authorities on the case of Yan Yongming, a former pharmaceutical executive accused of embezzling a huge amount of money in the 1990s.
Yan, ranked fifth among China's 100 most-wanted economic fugitives, fled to New Zealand in 2001.
"This is a preliminary achievement in the cooperation between China and New Zealand," said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang.
Lu noted that police departments from the two countries have worked closely on the case for many years.
