China's political advisors on Tuesday urged the country's art and literature circles to follow the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and serve the people and socialism.
More efforts should be made to create and spread innovative and quality works that benefit the public, members of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee said during a plenary session attended by top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng.
The meeting was told that art critics should follow the correct political direction and create commentaries that are influential and digestible, and the theme of the country's revolutionary history should be better explored to actively influence young people.
Feng Gong, a renowned comedian, noted that artists should pursue the cultural demands of ordinary people and create more works they like.
Attendees also highlighted intellectual property rights protection, ethnic minority groups and the management of online arts.
