The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) opened its 28th and 29th summits Tuesday in the Lao capital, with the theme of "Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community."
The opening ceremony started at noon at the National Convention Center in Vientiane, while the two summits will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
On Tuesday, the leaders will also witness Launch of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 and the Initiative for ASEAN Integration Work Plan III, and interface with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
Community building efforts will top the agenda of the summits.
During related meetings that will run through Thursday, ASEAN+1 Summits, Summit on Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, ASEAN+3 (China, Japan, and South Korea) Summit, as well as the East Asia Summit, will focus on the 10-member bloc's cooperation with dialogue partners.
