A business-to-business (B2B) platform under Singapore-based asiatravel.com has officially announced plans to enter China.
The platform, named tacentre.com, will target outbound travelers, according to a note sent to the Global Times on Tuesday.
Asiatravel.com is a multi-channel online travel company that offers a more than 8 million travel products worldwide.
Tacentre.com has been in operation in Southeast Asia since October 2012.
Additional measures will include a tailor-made website for hotel and travel site recommendations, a business platform for travel agents and companies to sell their tour packages, and cooperation with lvye.com, an outdoor travel site with more than 4 million members.
Boh Tuang Poh, CEO of asiatravel.com, said in a note that he believes tacentre.com could grab market share as the B2B market in China is still at the first stage of development.
According to the note, tacentre.com now has a Chinese version, and the payment options will include WeChat, Alipay and UnionPay to better serve Chinese travel agents.
All products will be priced in yuan.
It has already begun operations in the country with four local offices: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou in South China's Guangdong Province and Chengdu in Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
In September 2015, asiatravel.com revealed plans for a $93 million cash takeover offer by Shenzhen-listed property developer Zhonghong, its majority shareholder, at 30 cents a share, according to straitstimes.com.
