Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej has remained in critical condition due to low blood pressure and quick pulse.

The 89-year-old monarch, who has remained under intensive care at Siriraj hospital for several years, was reported to have low blood pressure and quick pulse at about 3 a.m. on Sunday due to irregular blood flows through his heart, said the 37th statement of the Bureau of the Royal Household.

The monarch has undergone long-term hemofiltration with continuous renal replacement therapy, had his spine fluid released, been given medicine to expand blood vessels in his lungs and been given a ventilator to help with his breathing, the Bureau of the Royal Household's statement said.

The Siriraj medical staff strongly advised that the Thai king refrain from engaging in any activity, given his critical condition for the time being.

The Thai stock market plunged to a record low by 53 points as soon as it opened on Monday amidst refueled rumors surrounding the monarch's chronic illnesses.
